Crop Walk 2008

"The awesome LVC walking team"
On Oct 14th, LifeLife Victory Center participated in the CROP (Community Responding to Overcoming Poverty) Walk to earn monies and gain awareness to the hunger issues around the world. CROP Walk is an event sponsored by the Church World Organization (CWS) who help communities around the globe learn how to become independent in supporting and helping their communities. Whether it's a community in Guatelmala that has have been trained by CWS to grow food in greenhouses and then turnaround and sell their crops in the local markets to purchase food for their community or with a community in Dafur learn to rebuild their community homes and learn trades that were taken away from them during cival wars in their area, the CROP walk proceeds help the CWS organization help those in need.
Michele Deo, coordinator of the LVC team, challenged the church to have at least 20 walkers participate in the activity, and on Oct 14th, 70 LVC members appeared to take on the 3 mile walk through Vassar. LVC was one of 9 churches in the Millington/Vassar area that participated, with both the food pantry in Millington and the one out of LVC receiving 25% of the overall proceeds to support the local pantrys. So far LVC has raised on it's own, $782.00. Great Job LVC!
